Northern Ireland Construction Academy and Construction Apprenticeship Initiatives

Construction Training Academy event attended by Manus Brennan April 2024

3D Personnel are delighted to support the Construction Academy operated by People 1st in Northern Ireland along with highlighting the work they carry out in encouraging Construction Apprenticeship uptake.

Manus Brennan, from 3D attended a recent Construction Academy session and was very positive about the events value in helping to prepare participants for new roles within construction.

The Construction Academy with People 1st

For some time now, People 1st have been working closely with local Councils and employers across Northern Ireland to deliver a range of bespoke training solutions referred to as ‘Academies’.

There are two distinct academy strands:

  • Employment Academy – for those who are unemployed or working 16 hours or less per week

  • Up-skilling Academy – for those who are already working but want to advance in their career by gaining a relevant qualification

The Construction Academy is now on its second intake with eight participants currently signed up. The Construction Academy is being run on behalf of the Mid Ulster District Council and reaction so far from the group has been very positive.

Bringing real world experience to training

Manus Brennan was delighted to be invited to chat with the participants at a recent session of the Construction Academy. He gave a talk about the realities of working on a site, detailing the career progression possible, while emphasising the importance of hard work and safety while out on site.

He chatted to the participants and was able to offer the prospect of construction work for some of the group on successful completion of their Construction Academy programme.

Positive response to Manus’s talk at the Construction Academy

Relaying some of the feedback received from the Construction Academy participants, the programme administrator, Charley Riddell had this to say to Manus;

The feedback was great from the guys, and they thought your talk was very informative and has given them the motivation to get their training done and to move into employment ASAP. They now feel like they have a lot more information about the industry and are more aware of the steps they need to take to move into employment and how to best reach their career goals.

Honestly, thanks again Manus. We look forward to working with you to hopefully help transition the participants into employment. And we look forward to continuing to work together with 3D Personnel in the future.
