A £500m East London 1,300 home project has received planning approval. The existing Tesco Superstore is to be demolished on the Goodmayes site, near Romford. Assuming the Mayor of London “rubber stamps” the application, 14 new tower blocks, ranging in height from 10 to 23 storeys will be built over an eight year period. Weston Homes, a developer, will lead the project which will also include a village hall, a community hub, a primary school, 1,700 square metres of commercial space and a new Tesco store.
