MSD, a pharmaceutical company, has applied for planning permission for a €140m, 3,266 square metre production facility in Ballydine, Co Tipperary. The project would employ 300 construction workers over an 18 month period. MSD have existing production capabilities on the 33-hectare site, which they also intend to extend via another planning application. The new plant would focus on “small volume, highly effective drugs”, thus effectively increasing the country’s R&D capabilities and reputation.
