20,000 back to work, but Irish Construction Industry

While we are delighted that 20,000 Irish construction workers are back to work, we continue to support the Construction Industry Federation’s position on the remaining 20,000 workers who are at home. It’s difficult to understand why Ireland is the only European country that has shut down their construction industry. We support the industry efforts to create safe work environments whose results are plain to be seen. Only 5% of coronavirus contamination took place in construction settings.

We urge the government to consider the above, the housing crisis, and the damage that continues to erode individual worker’s, company’s and the country’s financial health, when making a decision on allowing the last wave of workers back to work.
