As part of International Women’s Day festivities, Engineers Ireland has launched a new initiative, “Women in Engineering Group”, to support female engineers and to promote engineering as a career for women. All gender identities and backgrounds are welcome to the group and help, advice and support for women of all ages is provided. Information can be found for undergraduates and post-graduates, for career switchers and for those who are returning from a career break. The overarching objective is to create a steady pipeline of female engineers, which, it is hoped, will lead to more women in senior management positions.
The group was formed in January 2021 and over 130 delegates attended the recent online panel discussion on International Women’s Day celebrations. The next event is scheduled for the 23rd of June 2021, International Women in Engineering Day.
