Mr Tom Parlon, the Director General of the Construction Industry Federation, has called for a reopening of the Irish construction industry in April. Mr Parlon again drew attention to the housing crisis and that we are losing 800 new homes per week due to the current lockdown, (approx. 10,000 since January).
The National Public Health Emergency Team were due to meet with representatives of the construction industry yesterday, Tuesday, so as to discuss the issues. We hope that the relevant bodies will take note of the huge efforts made by the industry so as to improve our safe working procedures and that they have had a direct impact on contamination rates; the numbers speak for themselves.
