€13m to be invested in upgrading Carlow Town infrastructure

3 D Personnel

€13m is to be invested in upgrading Carlow Town infrastructure by means of the Urban Regeneration Development Fund, €9.79m, and €3.2m from the Carlow County Council.  A link will be built connecting Barrack Street and Potato Market via a pedestrian and cycle friendly route equipped with seating and plants.  Other works will take place at Kennedy Avenue and Tullow Street.  Also, the railway station will be furnished with a direct route to Carlow College, through the town centre, for both cyclists and pedestrians.

The planning, design and tendering process is expected to take approx. 18 months with construction beginning in early 2023.
