After having worked for 18 months on the pre-contract agreement, Bam has won the contract for the construction of a £78m London Office Space Project in Whitechapel, east London. The job was originally budgeted at £65m, but rose to £78m after complexities were identified during the initial 18 month period.
The existing building will be extended from six to twelve stories, with new steel floors sitting on top of an upgraded concrete structure of the original building, which dates from the 60s. The original façade will also be retained.
Piling has already started, and it is hoped that work will be completed in late 2022.
