Fingal County Council has announced the recent appointment of Total Highway Maintenance Ltd to deliver the Park Road improvement project in Rush.

The project involves the upgrade and widening of Park Road south from St Maur’s GAA Club to Kenure Lawns and is being fully financed by Fingal County Council.

The works include the construction of new footpaths, cycle facilities, foul & surface water drainage, watermains, landscaping, public lighting, signalised pedestrian crossing, boundary treatment and underground services.

Construction is scheduled to start on April 20, with site setup due to take place in the preceding weeks. The project has an estimated nine-month work programme, however this is being reviewed in the context of the various restrictions arising from the Covid-19 pandemic.

The contractor, Total Highway Maintenance is currently developing a detailed traffic management plan for the project which, when prepared, will be agreed with Fingal County Council and discussed with local schools, businesses, clubs and residents.

Chairperson of the Planning, Strategic Transport and Infrastructure Strategic Policy Committee (SPC) Cllr Brian Dennehy said: “As a local councillor I am delighted to see this project moving forward which will have significant benefits for the residents, schools and businesses of Rush. I look forward to further engagement on the traffic management plan before the project commences.”

Director of Planning and Strategic Infrastructure Matthew McAleese said: “This is an important milestone for the project. Park Road is of strategic importance to the town of Rush and these works will open adjoining lands and facilitate future development. I look forward to the delivery of this key piece of infrastructure.”

Senior Engineer Paul Carroll said: “This project will deliver improvements to traffic flows along Park Road and bring significant improvements for pedestrians and cyclists especially for those travelling to the adjacent schools and GAA Club.”
