Job Title: Construction Temporary Works Designer

Location: West Dublin (Hybrid after 6 months)

Job Type: Full-Time position

Salary / Package: €55K - €70K (DOE) + a full package

As part of their continued growth, we are currently seeking a talented and experienced Construction Temporary Works Designer to join the team.

 

Job Description:

As a Construction Temporary Works Designer, you will play a crucial role in the planning and execution of temporary structures and supports necessary for construction projects. You will be responsible for developing safe, efficient, and cost-effective temporary works solutions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. Your expertise will be vital in maintaining the structural integrity and stability of construction sites throughout the project lifecycle.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the project team, including engineers, architects, and site managers, to understand project requirements and develop appropriate temporary works designs.
  • Create detailed designs, calculations, and specifications for temporary structures, such as scaffolding, falsework, formwork, and shoring systems.
  • Conduct site visits to assess site conditions, identify potential challenges, and propose suitable temporary works solutions.
  • Analyse and evaluate designs for structural stability, load-bearing capacity, and safety, considering factors such as soil conditions, weather, and construction activities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and industry best practices in the design of temporary works.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive design documentation, including drawings, reports, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to obtain necessary equipment and materials for temporary works.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the construction team during the installation, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary works structures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and site audits to monitor the performance and safety of temporary works, recommending modifications or improvements as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in construction temporary works design, preferably in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Proficient knowledge of engineering principles, construction techniques, and temporary works design standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex structural scenarios and propose effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software applications, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or structural analysis software.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to temporary works design.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
  • Professional certifications or memberships related to temporary works design will be an added advantage.
