Job Title:                              Head of Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)

Location:                              Havant, Hampshire

Salary:                                 £60-70,000 plus benefits

Job Overview

Our client is a privately owned award-winning regional construction company with a commitment to excellent delivery. Operating across the south-central region, they deliver new build, refurbishment and fit-out schemes between £1m to £30m in multiple sectors including commercial, Industrial, Defence, Education, Healthcare, Heritage, Hotel and Leisure, Housing and Retail

In this role you will manage and organise the SHE department to ensure that health, safety and environmental support is provided throughout the business.

Key Objectives

  • To develop, implement and maintain safety, health and environment policies, strategies and best practice to ensure that the company, its clients and our supply chain are working in a safe and healthy manner with no adverse effect on the environment, and are compliant with all current legislation and company requirements
  • To ensure the development, implementation and maintenance of SHE management systems and that that the company understands its legal duties in relation to SHE, and that processes are in place to ensure compliance.
  • To advise and support the board of directors, management teams, employees, our clients and supply chain members in all aspects of SHE from design, planning and management and handover of the construction process.
  • Monitor and review SHE performance against set standards and targets, accurately report findings to the board of directors and the management team and ensure action plans to improve standards are implemented, met or surpassed.
  • Set annual SHE objectives with Managing Director

Experience required:

  • You must be a proven leader in Safety, Health & Environment with a construction main contractor based in the UK
  • Ability to analyse and interpret information quickly.
  • The ability to work independently and problem solve.
  • Ability to work well under pressure to deadlines.
  • Good organisational ability.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Ability to deal tactfully and professionally with colleagues.
