3D delighted to support North London Shamrocks GAA Club

5 minutes

3D Personnel are delighted to continue with our support of North London Shamrocks, as the GAA Club continues to go from strength to strength. Having a strong contingent of our own 3D team lining out for the Shamrocks and helping with the management of teams at the London GAA Club over the years, has helped with building those bonds.

The 2024 season was a monumental one for the North London GAA Club as they reached the promised land of winning a Senior Football Championship Final for the first time in the Clubs history. Their victory against St Kiernan’s in the Final at McGovern Park, Ruislip on Sunday 20th October 2024, on a score line of 1: 11 | 1: 08, left their loyal fans celebrating long into the night in London.

And not wanting to rest on their laurels, in 2025 the Club went on to win the London Senior Club Championship for a second time, with victory over the most successful London Club team over recent decades, Tír Chonaill Gaels, on a score line of 3: 07 | 0: 13.

A Short History of the North London Shamrocks GAA Club

North London Shamrocks only came into being with its present structure as recently as 2005, following the amalgamation of St Theresa’s of Ponders and Shannon Rovers | Sam Maguires of Greenwood. The Club can trace its roots back further to the formation of St Theresa’s GAA in 1967 and the Sam Maguire GAA and Shannon Rovers GAA Clubs, both formed in the early 1980’s. The most recent amalgamation of these Clubs helped to ensure the continuation of a strong GAA football presence in North London.

London GAA Senior Football Champions 2024 | 2025

In 2024, nearly 20 years on from the formation of the North London Shamrocks GAA Club, they made no mistake in their first appearance in a London GAA Senior Championship Final. Having overcome the outgoing Champions Fulham Irish in the semi-final on a 1:10 | 0:6 score line, they battled it out against a dogged St Kiernan’s GAA in the Final.

In difficult conditions and playing with the wind in the first half, they were dealt a serious blow just before half time where an unfortunate slip resulted in a St Kiernan's goal, leaving a half time score of 1: 06 | 1: 04 in their favour. With the conditions favouring St Kiernan's in the second half, North London Shamrocks held possession well and built on their lead, eventually coming out on top by three points on a final score line of 1: 11 | 1: 08. The refs final whistle saw great celebrations on the pitch followed by a great night of celebrations in London.

In 2025, despite the difficulty associated with winning back-to-back titles, the Club achieved this feat when they overcame another great London Club with deep roots in Donegal, Tír Chonaill Gaels. Despite the poor weather conditions, a lively encountered ensued, with the Shamrocks holding on for a three-point win after a spirited late comeback by the Gaels. The match ended with a 3: 07 | 0: 13 score line, with 3D's Daniel Clarke and Ciaran Diver among the scorers on the day. Nathan McElwaine also played his part in the historic win.

Managed by Peter Witherow from St Michael’s GAA Club in Donegal, the team have created history by winning the 2024 and 2025 - Capital Concrete | Barhale London Senior Football Championships.

Those London Championship wins earned them two attempts at upsetting the odds, when they clashed with the Mayo GAA Champions, Ballina Stephenites in the All Ireland Club Connacht Championship Quarter-Finals. On both outings the Stephenites proved a bridge too far North London Shamrocks, but they can hold their heads high after their recent historic Championship exploits.

Our 3D Team add an extra dimension to the London GAA set up

Along with the recent successes of the North London Shamrocks, the London GAA senior football team have also experienced an uptick in interest and ultimately performances.

During their 2026 Allianz League campaign they narrowly missed out on promotion to the third tier, after a late Antrim goal in the closing minutes of their last league game condemned London to only their third defeat in the league. Wins over Carlow GAA, Waterford GAA and Longford GAA combined with a draw against Tipperary GAA, left them with a healthy 7 points on the board at the conclusion of the League.

A number of our North London Shamrocks players and backroom personnel are involved with London GAA this year, including - Daniel Clarke, Nathan McElwaine, Ciaran Diver and with Michael Boyle on the coaching ticket. Joining them is another 3D team player Shay Rafter, who plays his football with Tara GFC.

Ciaran Diver had the honour of being named alongside the likes of David Clifford, Enda Smith and Sean O'Shea, in the GAA Team of the Week, after the win over eventual Division 4 winners Carlow!

In another Championship preview, Garry Doyle in the Irish Mirror, named Shay Rafter as one of the 'Hidden Gems', in the lower divisions of the league, who could light up any county!

His preview proclaimed Shay to be;

Big, Fast and Dangerous - the 22-year-old London-born forward Rafter has won junior, intermediate, and two All-Britain titles with Tara GFC in the past two years. Big, fast, clever, deadly from distance. He gets the ball, finds space, and punishes it. Put him in any Division 1 jersey, and he’d make the opposition pay.

We want to wish London GAA and the North London Shamrocks all the best for their respective 2026 GAA Championship campaigns.

3D Personnel and the North London Shamrocks connection

For many years there has been a close connection between the 3D Personnel London office team and North London Shamrocks.

Ciaran Greene (Sales Director) and Michael Boyle (Senior Contracts Manager) have both played with the Club and have been involved in different management roles within the Club.

Daniel Clarke (Labour Manager), Nathan McElwaine (Operations Manager @ 3D Specialist Contracting) and Ciaran Diver (Commercial Manager) are currently players in the Senior Team set up. All three have also featured on the London Senior Football team, alongside their colleague Shay Rafter (who lines out for Tara GFC).

Our Managing Director, Damian Doherty also played with the Club, while it was still known as St Theresa’s.

The other common denominator with the lads is that many of them hail from Donegal. Indeed, the current panel and background team has more than 20 Donegal personnel involved.

Speaking about our links with the North London Shamrocks, our Sales Director, Ciaran Greene had this to say:

As a Director at 3D Personnel, we are delighted to be a sponsor of North London Shamrocks.

I have been playing for the club now for over 10 years, as well as working with 3D Personnel for the same amount of time, so both are a huge part of my life.

We are so glad to be able to help Donegal people coming from home and offering them employment with us. Our office is based in the heart of North London in the busy Camden Town area, so the travel to training for the lads makes it an easy commute.

This is an exciting time for the football club and having so many players and members working for 3D Personnel, we can only envisage continued success.

We were delighted to win back-to-back London Senior Championships but are now fully focused on the season ahead.

Expanding on the above, Damian Doherty (Managing Director) had this to say:

I joined up with the Club, then known as St Theresa’s, when I first moved to London. It is fantastic to see the growth of the Club in the years since.

I am delighted to have some of our lads out on the pitch and in the background, winning a first Senior London Championship with the Club in 2024 and following it up with another win last year.

We want to congratulate them and all the team on their success and wish them well as the adventure continues during 2026. I’m sure they will do us proud, whatever the outcomes.
