Our client based in Co. Derry are a Consultancy with over 20 years’ experience working on projects locally and internationally.
The business is in a period of significant growth and is about to embark on the implementation of a new strategic plan. Due to their busy work load they have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager to join their team.

Job Profile/Key Duties/Responsibilities: (include but not limited to)
To have full responsibility and accountability for the effective day to day performance of the Engineering (mechanical and electrical) and Maintenance functions within the business whilst ensuring a safe working environment.
Proactively manage and control projects for infrastructure development;
Scoping projects, agreeing milestones and objectives in consultation with all stakeholders;
Manage all inputs including relevant labour, plant and utilities for most cost-effective, efficient, safe operations including the management and control of maintenance budgets;
Closely monitor, report and escalate project issues as needed;
Lead on high value purchase tenders or procurement processes;
Manage and influence stakeholder groups and co-ordinate resources to ensure delivery;
Build and maintain positive and strong work relationships;
Liaise with external consultants, service providers, engineers and contractors;
Maintain the business/organisations infrastructure and specialist equipment to highest operational standards;
Proactively liaise with third party service suppliers;
Develop and be fully accountable for the engineering and maintenance functions;
Continuously monitor Engineering and Maintenance operational processes and procedures and implement improvements in efficiency and effectiveness;
Ensure any audit recommendations are implemented and adhered to;
Work closely with the Environmental Enhancement team to assist in the delivery of their plans whilst also ensuring input is sought from them on environmental factors that need to be considered and integrated into any projects in the Engineering and Maintenance teams.
Demonstrate the highest standard of health and safety practices, organisation safety procedures and statutory regulations as appropriate;
Ensure Health & Safety and Environmental standards meet best practice and statutory compliance;
Maintain all regulatory certification for lifting plant and all other equipment;
Ensure a safe working environment and increase safety awareness as appropriate;
Report, and communicate all accidents, injuries and near misses;
Ensure proper use of safety equipment;
Ensure appropriate safety checks are carried out on all plant, tools, and equipment;
Provide leadership and direction to the Engineering and Maintenance functions;
Mentor and develop the team and individuals’ skills;
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Organisation’s people policies and processes relating to conduct, absence and performance management;
Own the full lifecycle of your teams; hiring, making day to day people impacting decisions, using the HR and Management support available when required;
Manage day to day people operations;
Set a good example by role modelling the corporate values;
Motivate others with a clear sense of direction and purpose;
Manage and allocate resources effectively within the team;
Identify training needs and implement training plans to ensure the teams can support the needs of the organisation. Encourage and enable others to take responsibility for their own development;
Communicate regularly and directly with the team to keep them up to date on departmental and site issues.

Experience/Qualifications/Requirements:

Essential:
Degree in Engineering at classification 2.2 or above (or equivalent relevant experience);
Minimum of five years relevant experience at senior management level to include technological developments and operations;
Experience of successfully managing multi-skilled mechanical and electrical teams;
Proven project management experience;
Knowledge of associated health and safety legislation, codes of practice and guidelines;
Full current driving licence or, in the case of disabled applicants, access to a form of transport to enable the post holder to meet the requirements of the post in full;
Driven to deliver, strong record of achievement, commitment and a proactive approach;
Strategic thinker capable of hands on involvement when required.

Desirable:
Have obtained or be working towards a recognised health and safety qualification;
Knowledge and experience of procurement and budgeting processes.
