Role: Senior Civil Engineer

3D Personnel is currently seeking an experienced civil engineer for a large scale civils project in Cork. Our client is a leading civil engineering main contractor with a vast portfolio of delivering complex roads/ marina/ windfarm/bridge/tunnels throughout Ireland and the UK.
Description
- Ensure the works are set out in accordance with drawings and specifications
- Provide information, instructions, sketches to foremen, operatives, subcontractors, to enable the works to be built correctly
- Ensure that information and instructions provided are clearly understood by staff and operatives and ensure that all necessary checks are carried out
- Check the quality of materials [e.g., concrete, reinforcement, soils, drainage, etc] as required in the specifications
- Ensure temporary works are erected and dismantled in accordance with drawings and instructions
- Advise your manager on the progress of the works, technical issues and any long lead items. Represent him when necessary in discussions with subcontractors, client’s representatives & statutory authorities
- Resolve technical issues that arise with the relevant parties – innovate where possible
- Supervise, counsel & develop graduate engineers and technicians assigned to you
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all personnel.
- Ensure the works are carried out in a safe manner. Observe and correct – lead by example
- Maximise profit through your day-to-day actions: good self-management, cost effective innovations, accuracy in own work, elimination of re-work, plant & labour efficiency & productivity
- Ensure your work is carried out in accordance with the Site Quality Manual, including method statements, quality plans, inspections, test plans, etc
- Liaise with other departments/sections to ensure a full interchange of relevant information to maximise site efficiency and minimise cost
- Prepare technical reports, site diary and other relevant documentation
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 5- to 8 years’ post qualification experience on marine, wwtp, flood risk management, maritime/coastal engineering or a related civil disciplines
- 3rd level Civil Engineering
- Familiarity with specifications and contract document preparation
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of software;
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;
- The ability to lead, manage and proactively participate in project teams;
