We are looking for a Quality, Health and Safety and Environment Manager for a role that we have available with a carpentry and joinery sub-contractor working on projects in the London and Home Counties area.

Role would be based at their head office and production facility in Hemel Hempstead. From their base at their head offices the successful candidate will be providing training to staff and managment for live site and also for the production and assembley area that they have. Will also be required to do site reports on live projects in the London and Home Counties area.

Duties:

  • Providing guidance and advice to the business on compliance with statutory requirements and company standards.
  • Undertaking risk assessments and compiling safe systems of work.
  • Working with operational teams to ensure that QSHE is considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified.
  • Maintain the business's OHSAS 18001, 9001 and ISO 14001 standards and certification, including CHAS, Construction-line, SMAS, Achilles, etc.
  • Monitor and maintain the company Integrated Management System.
  • Undertaking 'active' monitoring of company projects using the monitoring system.
  • Highlighting areas where poor practice and/or significant risk have occurred. 
  • Investigating accidents/incidents and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement to management.
  • Liaising with enforcing authorities.
  • Work with senior managers and/or directors on the development and implementation of Health & Safety strategies for improvement.
  • Keeping up to date with new legislation and best practices in the industry.
  • Provide professional support and advice to the Senior Management Team and Staff on Occupational Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality matters.
  • Undertake the role of CDMC on certain projects.
  • Raise awareness on QSHE & sustainability issues through toolbox talks, briefings & delivering training.
  • Prepare, review and updating of policies and procedures relating to the management of QSHE.

Qualifications / Competencies:

  • Minimum Grad IOSH
  • NVQ Level 4 or above in OSH
  • IT Skills – in particular Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience in delivering presentations/training sessions.
  • Up to date knowledge of UK legislation in relation to QSHE Operation to OHSAS 18001, ISO45001, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 Standards
  • Ideally have 8 years + construction experience.
