Vacancy: Chartered Geotechnical engineer

Location: South Dublin

Salary: Sector Leading Salary and Package

A well-established civil, environmental and structural engineering consultancy based in South Dublin requires a Geotechincal Engineer to join their team.

Role description

You will be responsible for devising and overseeing ground investigation contracts and supporting various design teams with specialist geotechnical inputs.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in Irish/UK glacial till soils including major road/rail projects
  • Knowledge of construction techniques for piles and retaining walls 
  • Knowledge of soft ground techniques, peat stability and soil reinforcement methods will be of particular interest
  • Knowledge and work experience using finite element modelling of soil-structure interaction problems
  • Knowledge of quarry/borrow materials used as aggregates and pavement design
  • Construction experience in earthworks, soil improvement and deep foundations
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Experience of geotechnical investigations contracts             

Experience of earthwork design or road/rail infrastructure projects

  • Strong geotechnical design skills
  • Strong project management skills and experience
  • Proven track-record working with design teams in a busy work environment with tight deadlines
  • Flexibility
  • Leadership, presentation and communication skills, including report writing
  • Ability to supervise and lead/mentor junior staff

Desirable

  • Post graduate qualification MSc in geotechnical engineering or related field
  • Use  and manipulation of AGS data
  • Use of word/excel/CAD
  • Report writing skills
  • Membership of a recognised professional body in the geotechnical field
  • Full driving licence
