Shane Dempsey, Director, Communications, CIF has highlighted the need for the construction industry to invest in technology so as to further develop productivity, sustainability and efficiency within the sector. He points to the example of the agri-food industry, who faced the same challenge a number of years ago. However, huge progress has been made, largely because of the investment in R&D, with the aid of the EU. He calls on the construction industry to capitalize on the opportunities which will be provided by the Green Deal, while at the same time ensuring that the information is disseminated right down to the smaller players.
