Tips for managing “Covid Fatigue” this Christmas

3 D Personnel

In the best of times, Christmas can be a little stressful.  However, the year that’s in it has meant that we have to manage extra pressures, like home-schooling, working from home, all in the same environment at the same time, lack of choice, etc.  Anxiety levels are up due to what has become known as “Covid Fatigue”

The general advice from the experts is to be gentle with yourselves and others, and to remember that Christmas is a time for giving and receiving.  Keep an eye out for those who are feeling a bit down and give them some of your time, albeit virtual or even a phone call.

More detailed tips include:

1.Manage your expectations:  Christmas this year will be different.  Rather than fight it, accept it and adapt to it.

2.Plan: You will find that you are little isolated this year.  Remember that others are in the same boat.  Be creative; organise online activities, or simply ring them for a chat.

3.Fun: Laughter is the best medicine…indulge…

4.Exercise: You don’t have to climb Croagh Patrick.  A short walk will do…

5.Talk: A problem shared is a problem halved…

6.Boundaries: This year, for all our sakes, we have to set boundaries…

7.Eat well: Let the hair down, but have an odd apple…

8.Watch the booze: Don’t overdo it…

9.Social media: Don’t get caught up in it all…

10.Don’t sweat the small stuff: Don’t worry about it…!!!
