An Affordable Housing Bill that would see the State providing first-time buyers with up to 30% of equity is to be discussed in the Dail next week. The Minister for Housing, Darragh O’Brien, who is proposing the Bill, has stressed that a differentiation feature is that there would be no “no arbitrary salary caps”, which effectively means that all first-time buyers could apply, including couples or singles. Mr. O’Brien hopes that it will lead to an increased supply of around 2,500 homes.
