Planning permission has been granted for an €8 million whiskey distillery in County Waterford. Gortinore Distillers will produce a million bottles of whisky per year, creating 15 full time jobs in the operation stage. The old mill, which dates back to 1850 when it was a woollen mill is located on the banks of the River Mahon; it was also the home to Flahavan’s Irish porridge. The plans also include a visitor centre which will add further value to the local tourism industry.
