A planning application for another large co-living development in Rathmines has been lodged with Dublin City Council.
Development firm Blondie Issuer is seeking planning permission for a change of use of an office building into a shared residential development of 110 tenants on Lower Rathmines Road in the Dublin 6 suburb.
The company also wants to add three new storeys to Rathmines House, which formed part of the campus of the Dublin Institute of Technology - now Technological University Dublin - for several decades and which has been sub-leased as office space in recent years.
The proposed new seven-storey building will contain 110 units with shared kitchens and communal dining and living facilities on each floor.
At ground-floor level there will be a reception, gymnasium, residents' lounge and launderette and storage for 160 bicycles.
It is the second major proposal for a large co-living development in Rathmines in recent months and is likely to face objections from opponents of such accommodation.
An earlier application by another developer, Bartra Capital, was refused planning permission for its plans for a seven-storey building providing living space for 102 residents on Ardee Road in Rathmines by Dublin City Council in September.
